Discover the Differences between Pokémon TCG Pocket and the Classic Pokémon TCG!
Pokémon TCG Pocket arrives in 2024 as a revamped and dynamic version of the classic Pokémon TCG. With new mechanics and a faster pace of play, this version promises a fresh experience for both veteran and new players. Here are the main differences that make Pokémon TCG Pocket a unique game:
1. Opening Digital Packages
Online booster opening is still available. This feature allows you to expand your collection in an innovative way, while maintaining the excitement of obtaining new cards and strategies.
2. Quick Battles
One of the most notable differences is the speed of battles . Unlike traditional gameplay, where matches can drag on, Pokémon TCG Pocket is designed to offer faster, more dynamic confrontations. This makes it a great choice for those looking for short, exciting matches.
3. Bench reduction to three Pokémon
Instead of the five Benched Pokémon you can have in the regular TCG, you can only have up to three Benched Pokémon in Pokémon TCG Pocket . This limitation adds an extra layer of strategy, as you’ll need to carefully choose which Pokémon to bring onto the field and how to manage your team.
4. Scoring System Instead of Prize Cards
Another significant change is the removal of prize cards . Instead, each player scores points. The goal is to reach three points to win the match, or knock out all of the opponent's Pokémon. The scoring rules are simple:
- A defeated normal Pokémon grants 1 point.
- A defeated Ex Pokémon grants 2 points.
This new point system means that your deck will not have any cards locked to prize cards , offering more flexibility in your strategies.
New Genetix Apex Envelopes
Each pack contains five cards. In the video we see some examples of pack openings. The last one is the rarest card in each pack.
You'll be able to trade cards with friends, but the initial announcement noted that the trading feature might not be available at launch.
The game will allow you to open two packs per day for free. For packs above that amount, you will have to pay. Prices have not yet been announced.
Unlike actual booster packs, there are some exclusive cards that can only be found in specific pack artwork. For example, in Genetic Apex , you can only find Sabrina inside the Charizard pack.
